CNY Dumpling Night
CONCEPTMaking dumplings together is one of the oldest New Year's traditions in Chinese culture, an act of gathering as much as cooking. I built this dinner concept around that: a group of close friends, mostly NYC transplants, and a simple intention of giving people the feeling of being home, even when they are far away.

THE INVITATIONDesigned in the format of a traditional Chinese almanac calendar — intentionally dense and layered.
THE MENUPresented in traditional red envelopes, the Lunar New Year tradition of gifting luck and prosperity.
SET DESIGNThe creative direction began with a visual research phase: red, layered, hanging lanterns, ceremonial influences.
A living room transformed through layered lantern installation at varying heights and a red floral centerpiece anchored by mandarins, a traditional symbol of gold, wealth, and good fortune.
