Receipt Recipes

Two restaurant receipts on a light beige surface with shadows, featuring illustrations of dishes, titled "Pan-Fried Marinated Beef" and "Kimchi Pasta," alongside a few paper clips.
Hand holding a detailed food receipt featuring items like salted egg yolk pasta, with a sketched illustration of noodles at the bottom.
Three illustration-style restaurant receipts with drawings of food and drinks. Each features different ingredients and dish descriptions like Kimchi Pasta, Yakult Strawberry Soju, and Crostini Rigo Spanish. Signed "Sabrina."

Combining the two of my hobbies: drawing and my love for cooking. I wanted to play around with creative layout by creating a simplistic recipe journal: Ingredients on the left, quantities on the right. Fascinated by the utilitarian aesthetic of receipt paper, I aim to challenge traditional recipe formats and encourage a fresh perspective on how culinary information can be visually communicated.

I first sketched each dish on ProCreate. The recipes themselves are written in the form of receipts on Adobe Illustrator. Finally, I used Adobe Photoshop to make the mockups.

Just to piss off the Italians…

Here are some of my favorite fusion pasta dishes I’ve made during my study abroad in Milan, Italy.

A receipt on a red and white checkered background for Sambar Sausage Pasta, listing ingredients like bucatini pasta, garlic cloves, onions, Italian sausage, tomato paste, button mushrooms, sambar chili, and ketchup. It is titled 'The Receipt Series' and mentions Milan, Italy, with host Sabrina.
Receipt titled 'The Receipt Series' with details for 'Masago Pasta,' including items like spaghetti, crème fraîche, and miso paste, set on a red checkered tablecloth.
A receipt titled 'The Receipt Series: Korean Beef Pasta' with a list of ingredients and their prices, including pasta, garlic cloves, minced ginger, onions, cabbage, carrot, flank steak, beef stock cups, Gochujang, kimchi, and sesame oil. The receipt is for an order in Milan, Italy, hosted by Sabrina on 09/08/24. It's placed on a red and white checkered tablecloth.
